Leigh Academy Horsmonden is a warm, welcoming, and supportive primary school where staff are valued, teamwork is strong, and children are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of our inclusive ethos, positive culture, and our commitment to helping both pupils and staff thrive.

We are seeking a flexible, proactive, and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team. This varied and rewarding role involves working across all key stages, from EYFS through to Year 6, and offers the opportunity to make a real impact across the school. The successful candidate will enjoy variety, demonstrate strong initiative, and be confident in providing short-notice class cover when required.

Previous experience working with primary-aged children is essential, along with experience of covering classes. Above all, we are looking for a positive, adaptable individual with a can-do attitude who is passionate about supporting high-quality teaching and learning.

If you are committed to making a difference and would like to work in a school where your skills and contribution are truly valued, we would love to hear from you.

Information about the school

Here at Leigh Academy Horsmonden, our aim is to encourage lifelong learning and develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring individuals that understand the world around them while demonstrating respect. It is important to us all that Horsmonden children are prepared for life outside Horsmonden and that journey starts the minute they walk through our doors.

I feel extremely privileged to be Principal at Horsmonden Primary Academy and to work with such a dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable staff team. We are all proud to work here and firmly believe in every child achieving their best through providing inspiring, motivating and exciting learning opportunities.

As an academy we do not discriminate against pupils or staff because of their sex, race, disability, religion or beliefs or sexual orientation. We have established a clear vision with equality of opportunity at the very heart of this, with an unwavering commitment to ensure the success of every single pupil.

Our curriculum is framed by the Primary Years Programme, from the International Baccalaureate and we strongly believe in the 10 learner profile attributes. They represent the capacities and responsibilities for intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth. Together, staff and children are: inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk takers, balanced and reflective.

Our recent Ofsted report from October 2023 confirms pupils thrive at Leigh Academy Horsmonden and a clear set of learning attributes help pupils recognise what they need to do to be successful. The highly prized ‘Horsmonden Heroes’ awards motivate pupils and identify when these behaviours are demonstrated.

Horsmonden School was founded in 1853 and we have been at the heart of the community ever since. We are proud to have an active, supportive parent body and excellent links with the local community enabling us to work closely together, providing the best experiences for the children of Horsmonden.

If you would like to find out more, please contact the school office to book a guided tour. I look forward to meeting you!
