Learning Support Assistant wanted for our lovely school!

Are you looking for a new challenge?  Are you able to nurture children so that they flourish? If so, Harrietsham Church of England Primary School could be the school for you.

A wonderful opportunity exists for an excellent LSA to become the latest member of our School Family.

We are looking for skilled, caring, enthusiastic individuals to join our excellent team.  We are seeking an LSA to work Monday to Friday 8:30am, to 15:30pm, 32.5 hours a week, term time only, 38 weeks a year.  This post is initially a temporary post, but there is the possibility of a permanent role as the school continues to grow.

Our children and staff are happy and fun-loving and our children have excellent learning behaviours.  Together, our aim is to ensure that everyone reaches their full potential so that our entire school family can flourish in every aspect of their education and life journey.

The successful applicant will work alongside the class teachers, Inclusion Leader and Inclusion Assistant, supporting the additional needs of the children - this may be in groups of children or with individuals.

We are looking for people who have:

  • A passion to see every child fulfilling their potential.
  • A nurturing personality which reflects our nurturing ethos.
  • Effective time management and an ability to work on their own initiative.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • The ability to contribute to, and work as part of, a team.
  • A positive attitude (a ready smile is a bonus!).
  • A commitment to their own professional and career development.
  • A good standard of written and spoken English.
  • GCSE Maths and English.
  • A willingness to get stuck in at lunchtimes, model high quality play and if necessary get a bit messy!

It is desirable, but not essential, to have experience of working with children as full training is available for those without school experience. Our staff development strategy means that any experienced learning support assistants who apply can indicate specialist areas that they wish to pursue.

Please read the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more detail.

Personal visits to the school are warmly encouraged, but we are also happy to chat on the phone.  Please call the school office on 01622 859261 to arrange a tour or telephone call with the Headteacher (Jackie Chambers), Deputy Headteacher (Jon Gambell) or Inclusion Leader (Rebecca Evans).

We reserve the right to call candidates to interview early so don't delay in submitting your application!

Harrietsham Church of England Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Any appointment will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS, barred list check and references, along with other relevant employment checks.  Shortlisted candidates will be subject to online checks following Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023. Our Vision Statement: ‘Nurtured we Flourish’.

We are a warm, welcoming and inclusive school rooted in our rural community. Like the mustard seed, we grew from tiny beginnings and our branches are now spread wide – providing support and taking our values beyond the school gates. Harrietsham Church of England Primary School is a friendly village school set in beautiful countryside in the heart of the community. We pride ourselves on the achievements of all of our pupils - we are a nurturing and inclusive school where everyone works together, putting our children at the heart of everything we do. We welcome pupils and staff of all faiths and none and our vision and values of Love, Forgiveness and Fellowship guide our everyday actions.

Our school building (which dates from 2004) houses well-resourced classrooms, a variety of smaller learning areas and offices, a well-stocked library, an inviting nurture room and a school hall with our own on-site kitchen. We are lucky to be positioned within extensive grounds which give our children access to a forest school, a sports field and a separate playing field and playground.

We have supportive parents and an active Governing Body. We maintain close links with the church and local community.
