About the Role

The English department plays a vital role in developing students’ communication, creativity, and analytical thinking. We use efficient assessment systems that support progress while protecting staff wellbeing. Weekly subject CPD, collaboration with external partners, and curriculum innovation are central to our practice.

As a Teacher of English, you will:

  • Teach English up to and including KS5

  • Benefit from a personalised induction and ongoing coaching

  • Take part in weekly subject-specific CPD

  • Contribute to curriculum development

  • Have access to strong behaviour systems and support

  • Have the opportunity for additional responsibilities (TLR available)

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS and can teach English to KS3 and GCSE (KS5 desirable)

  • Uses reflective and innovative teaching approaches

  • Has a strong record of student progress

  • Is enthusiastic, values-driven, and committed to making a difference

All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Occupational Health check, two satisfactory references, an online check, and, where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check. A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1,000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds.
