Parkview Academy is a specialist school with a warm and welcoming community, supporting pupils aged 6–19 years who, for a variety of reasons, find it difficult to thrive in mainstream education. Our pupils have Autism (ASD) and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

We are committed to providing a personalised education that enables all pupils to achieve academically, socially, and emotionally, preparing them to become confident, responsible, and successful members of society.

At Parkview, we believe every young person deserves to be understood, nurtured, and challenged to achieve their best. Strong relationships, positive behaviour, and high expectations are at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Personal Development and Behaviour Lead to take a key middle leadership role within the school. This role combines behaviour leadership with responsibility for personal development, ensuring pupils grow in confidence, resilience, and self-esteem while achieving their academic and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage behaviour systems, ensuring a safe and positive climate for learning.

  • Coordinate and deliver the PSHE, Character Education, and personal development curriculum.

  • Support and guide staff delivering PSHE / Character Education lessons.

  • Support and guide staff in implementing effective behaviour strategies and personal development approaches.

  • Ensure pupils’ social, emotional, health and wellbeing needs are met alongside academic progress.

  • Lead on Team Teach strategies, the creation and review of Behaviour Support Plans, and the regular analysis of behaviour data.

  • Plan and deliver engaging PSHE / Character Education lessons, enrichment activities, and mentoring sessions for individuals and small groups.

This is a high-impact role that offers the opportunity to make a real difference to pupils’ lives, combining leadership, teaching, and pastoral support.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Passionate about specialist education and supporting pupils with ASD and SEMH needs.

  • Experienced in behaviour management, personal development, and mentoring.

  • Skilled in leading and supporting staff, sharing expertise and strategies.

  • Strong communicator, able to build relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.

  • Committed to high expectations, consistency, and positive behaviour across the school.

  • Confident in planning, delivering, and evaluating PSHE and Character Education lessons.

Why Join Parkview Academy?

  • Work in a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming community.

  • Opportunity to take a key leadership role in shaping behaviour and personal development.

  • Make a real difference in the lives of young people.

  • Professional development and leadership opportunities.

  • A school culture where staff wellbeing, collaboration, and innovation are valued.
