Hours: 37 hours per week / Term Time Plus 10 Days

Are you passionate about supporting young people as they prepare for their future beyond school? We are looking for an organised, approachable, and motivated 6th Form Year Manager to join our successful Post-16 team and play a key role in supporting students throughout their Sixth Form journey.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with students, families, and staff to promote high aspirations, positive wellbeing, strong attendance, and successful outcomes.

What “Term Time Plus” Means

This role follows the school calendar, meaning you will work during student term time only, plus an additional 10 days across the year. These additional days are typically used during key periods such as exam results, enrolment, Sixth Form transitions, training, and preparation days.

Although you will not work all year round and your salary is calculated on a term-time basis, your pay is spread evenly across 12 months, providing consistent monthly income while benefiting from extended time off during school holidays.

Please note: The successful candidates will be expected to work from GCSE Exam Date (This year 13/8/26) until the end of August during the Summer Holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral and administrative support to Sixth Form students, helping them navigate academic and personal challenges
  • Monitor attendance, engagement, and academic progress, working with students and families to address concerns
  • Support the Director of Post-16 in developing an aspirational, high-achieving Sixth Form culture
  • Contribute to UCAS processes, post-16 pathways, and transition activities
  • Maintain accurate records and manage Sixth Form administrative systems
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to support student outcomes

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience working in an educational or student-focused setting is desirable
  • Knowledge of Sixth Form systems, UCAS, attendance, or pastoral support would be advantageous
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education

Key Skills

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
  • Confident IT skills and willingness to learn new systems (knowledge of SIMS is beneficial but not essential)

Why Join Us?

  • Career Development: Opportunities to grow and develop within a supportive school environment
  • Supportive Culture: Comprehensive induction and ongoing training
  • Valued Team: Be part of a school that prioritises staff wellbeing and development
  • Work–Life Balance: Term time working with additional days built around key school activities
  • Great Perks: Access to corporate discounts, reduced membership for Active Life, and complimentary Benenden Health Care

Information about the school

Herne Bay High School is a large hugely successful Single Academy Trust that serves the Herne Bay coastal area of North Kent. We have a comprehensive intake and are significantly oversubscribed in all year groups and in June 2022 Ofsted rated the school good with an Outstanding 6th form provision.

Whilst academic rigour and examination success is at the forefront of our development, we passionately believe that a broad, balanced approach to education is important and as such we place great emphasis on the Creative and Performing Arts, Technology, and Sport as a key part of a young person’s early educational journey. Herne Bay High School is also a champion of collaborative practice.

Safeguarding Commitment: At Herne Bay High, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
