We are seeking to appoint a senior leader to the post of Assistant Headteacher for our Lower Primary phase to join our dedicated leadership team and help shape the future of our school.   

The successful candidate will: 

  • Has proven leadership experience and a strong understanding of high-quality teaching. 
  • Have an excellent understanding of the needs of pupils with SEN, including those with a primary diagnosis of Social, emotional and metal health needs  
  • Be passionate about high standards and achievement and excellence for all 
  • Communicates effectively, builds strong relationships, and motivates others. 
  • Is committed to inclusion and safeguarding,  
  • Demonstrates resilience, integrity, and a passion for continuous improvement.

As Assistant Headteacher, you will take strategic responsibility for pupils within your key stage, ensuring they experience a broad, well-sequenced, and coherent curriculum. You will lead on the management of safeguarding, behaviour and targeted interventions, while driving improvements in attendance and engagement. The successful candidate will model exemplary practice and foster a culture where every pupil enjoys a positive, enriching school experience and is supported to achieve their full potential.  Opportunities for wider whole-school leadership responsibilities will be discussed during the interview process, reflecting our commitment to professional growth and collaborative leadership. 

We are an Outstanding foundation day special school for children and young people aged between 4 – 16yrs.  We offer our pupils a high quality of education, accessible to learners of varied abilities and different learning styles, whilst taking into consideration their social, emotional, behaviours and mental health needs.  

The school is designated for 225 pupils with learning difficulties, and SEMH needs. Many pupils also have Autism Spectrum Conditions and communication difficulties or ADHD.

Bower Grove is a Foundation Day Special School for statemented pupils with learning and social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) including social communication difficulties and anxiety.
