Inspire Academy, now part of the Rivermead Inclusive Trust, are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Teacher of Pupils with SEN.

Inspire Academy is a fast-paced, dynamic place to work, where the children are at the heart of everything we do. As a dedicated Special School supporting children with SEMH needs, our teachers are an integral part of the team and we require someone who is devoted to making a difference. Every pupil at Inspire has an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) with SEMH as their primary need, with many having experienced fragmented education and challenges that mainstream settings cannot always meet.

Inspire is proud to be part of Rivermead Inclusive Trust, a well-established organisation within the Medway community. This is an exciting time to join us as we embark on ambitious plans, including the development of a brand-new, state-of-the-art building for our learners, scheduled to open in the near future. This will increase our capacity, leading to good career opportunities for the right candidate.

Our mission is simple: every child has the right to achieve. With small class sizes and a passionate team, we provide a nurturing environment where pupils can rebuild confidence, develop positive behaviours, and make meaningful progress.

If you are looking for a new challenge and would like to be part of a great team, then please do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a visit, or ask any questions.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of success and the ability to achieve the best outcomes for all pupils. We are particularly interested in candidates who share our commitment to improving the life chances of young people regardless of background.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further their career as we are committed to fully supporting professional development and helping our colleagues achieve their career potential. The Rivermead Inclusive Trust has a clear ‘Grow your own’ ethos, so all staff are given the best opportunities to progress.

If you are an outstanding practitioner with a commitment to high standards and a passion for teaching, we would be delighted to hear from you and look forward to receiving an application.

This post is a position for 1265 hours per annum / 195 days per year (as per the STPCD 2025 document).

Please note - we do not accept CV's. Additionally, CV's submitted via an agency will also not be considered.

We reserve the right to shortlist and interview earlier than the stated closing date should an appropriate application be received.

Information about the school

Inspire Academy is an SEMH Special School for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, and forms part of The Rivermead Inclusive Trust.

All the students at Inspire Academy have an EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan), with a primary need of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). Some exhibit very challenging behaviour and Mainstream schooling is not always the most appropriate setting for them. Sometimes their first encounter of school has been chaotic and certainly challenging, many have had a fragmented education and have fallen behind their peers academically. This often results in self-esteem issues and anti-social behaviour.

With small classes and amazing staff that truly understand SEMH we feel that once a student starts at Inspire they have every opportunity to turn their lives around. Every child has the right to achieve and we believe that every parent and carer has the right to expect that Inspire Academy will do its very best for their child. With this in mind we work closely with parents and carers and other agencies to help each student make positive choices and changes which will serve them better in their future.

A key feature that we try to adopt is teaching the students to take responsibility for their behaviour and consequences. We teach them to try and put things right when they go wrong, together with learning the values of tolerance and respect for themselves and others.
