Join Future Schools Trust as a Trustee

Are you passionate about education and driven to make a real difference within your community? Future Schools Trust is seeking dedicated and strategic-minded individuals to join our Board of Trustees

About Us
Future Schools Trust is a multi-academy trust serving Maidstone, Kent, with two secondary schools, one primary school, and a nursery. We are committed to creating a cohesive, aspirational community where every child and member of staff can exceed expectations.

What You’ll Do
As a Trustee, you will be part of the accountable body that oversees the direction and success of all our academies. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Shaping and ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction across the Trust
  • Holding the executive leadership to account for the educational performance of our schools and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing the Trust’s financial performance, ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently
  • Serving on or contributing to key Board Committees, which support governance in areas such as finance, audit, quality of education, and people and culture

Your Impact

  • Provide strategic challenge and support to help drive educational excellence for all pupils
  • Work collaboratively with fellow Trustees, Local Governing Bodies, senior leaders, and other stakeholders to uphold our mission and values
  • Help shape the future of our Trust by contributing to decisions that benefit our local community and young people

What We’re Looking For

  • Professional skills and experience that add value — for example in education, finance, business, law, HR or non‑profit leadership
  • Strong personal integrity, commitment, and willingness to devote time: Trustees typically meet four times a year, plus committee work
  • The ability to think strategically, challenge constructively, and work collaboratively
  • A desire to support our Trust’s vision and contribute to its long-term success

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to make a meaningful contribution in a growing, ambitious Trust
  • Work with a dedicated Board and leadership team who are deeply committed to raising standards and strengthening local education
  • Develop your governance skills and broaden your professional network, while making a tangible impact on young lives

Time Commitment

  • Board meetings: generally four times a year
  • Committee membership and site visits, as needed
  • Trustees usually serve a four‑year term (subject to reappointment)

Next Steps
If you’re inspired by our mission and believe you can contribute to our trust’s continued success, we’d love to hear from you. Please email recruitment@futureschoolstrust.com to find out more or request an application pack
