The Student Liaison will play a key role in enhancing the Personal Development (PD) programme by liaising with both staff and students to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and engaging. This includes maintaining high standards of PD lessons, supporting extracurricular activities, and fostering a positive, inclusive student environment.

Key Responsibilities:

      • PD Programme updates:, write and maintain high-quality PD lesson plans that are aligned with safeguarding updates and the needs of students.

      • Create and develop PD levels from entry-level to Level 3 to ensure progressive learning opportunities.

      • Visitor Coordination: Support the planning and booking of external PD visitors to enrich the learning experience.

      • Enrichment delivery: Organise and offer engaging on-site enrichment activities that help build social skills, encourage socialisation, and allow students to explore their talents in fun and interactive ways (e.g., sports, music, healthy eating).

      • Community Links: Organise one or two annual trips to Stalisfield Forest School to promote community engagement and experiential learning.

      • Student Voice: Foster an environment where students feel comfortable voicing their opinions on college life, as well as suggesting new opportunities. Explore options for student representation at each site. Promote student leadership by facilitating the election of a student representative who can provide feedback to the board and participate in staff recruitment processes.

      • Social Responsibility: Link PD content to local government initiatives and community activities, encouraging students to engage in real-world experiences.

      • Location: Travel to all sites as required.

      • Hours: 18 hours per week, term-time only.

Information about the school

Craftworks College, part of the Brogdale CIC group, is an independent specialist college which is based in Kent. It was initially called Brogdale Community Interest Company however became its own separate charity operating with the Brogdale CIC group in January 2021. The college has 6 sites, 3 in Ashford comprising of Food with Friends cafe; which is situated inside a government Gateway Plus building in central Ashford, Stourside Farm, which is located on the Wyvern School site for SEND and Muddy Wellies community farm which is in Smeeth. Two sites are in Faversham, Brogdale Farm the original site located within the home of the National Fruit Collection and a Georgian and Victorian Walled Garden in Faversham. The main office and other site is Culnells Farm in Iwade. Many of the sites are rural to support the provision of local services to young people who live in those communities.

The college provides education and training to young people aged 16 to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including mental health needs.

There are 91 learners aged 16-24 on study programmes studying vocational qualifications from Entry Level to Level 2. Learners study a range of subjects, including Practical Horticulture, Creative Craft, Food and Cookery and Farm Animal Care. All students have English and Maths lessons, Personal Development Sessions and interventions to support their access to learning, all students are given the opportunity to access Enrichment activities and work experience.
