We are delighted to advertise a vacancy for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our wonderful Early Years team.

  • Start date: 1st January 2026
  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only, with 30 minutes for lunch)
  • Contract: Part-time, fixed-term (linked to funding) until the end of July 2026 with the possibility of being extended further.
  • Salary: Kent Range A

 

Key Responsibilities will include:

This role involves providing dedicated, high-quality support, primarily on a one-to-one (1:1) basis, for a specific child or children within the EYFS class who have identified needs. This position requires you to work closely with the class teacher to ensure tailored academic and personal development is met.

  • Providing academic support, enabling the individual child to access the learning and make sustained progress across all areas of the EYFS curriculum, adapting activities as necessary.
  • Addressing personal, social, and emotional needs of the individual, including supporting personal care routines (where required) and promoting their physical well-being.
  • Leading and delivering targeted interventions as directed by the class teacher and SENCO, rigorously tracking progress and providing feedback on the child's response to strategies.
  • Implementing new strategies and resources (e.g., communication aids, sensory breaks, visual timetables) identified by the class teacher and external professionals to support the child's specific learning profile.
  • Liaising with professional agencies (e.g., Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists) and internal staff to integrate specialist advice into the daily routine.
    Supporting daily class routines, transitions, and learning activities while maintaining focus on the individual child's engagement and safety.
  • Promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and independence through consistent, structured, and nurturing support, following established behaviour plans.
  • Working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to support the child’s holistic needs and contribute to review meetings.
  • Contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment where the individual child feels secure and valued.

 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a calm, nurturing approach and a genuine love of working with young children in the Early Years.
  • Can follow direction but also demonstrate initiative to proactively support learning moments.
  • Has good communication and strong teamwork skills.
  • Understands the importance of early childhood development, safeguarding, and inclusion.
  • Is willing to engage in ongoing professional development to enhance their practice.
