The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic English / Literacy Teacher, ideal for Early Career Teachers or experienced teachers looking to expand their skills. The postholder will:

  • Lead the teaching and learning of English for learners aged 11+

  • Deliver lessons across secondary and post-16 learners, including Functional Skills and GCSE

  • Develop schemes of work and differentiated lesson plans aligned with the school curriculum

  • Guide, mentor, and inspire Tutors and LSAs to improve teaching and learning outcomes

  • Monitor pupil progress, assess work, and provide constructive feedback

  • Contribute to pastoral care, liaise with parents and carers, and support learners’ personal development

  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment and uphold the school’s ARRRTT philosophy

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Degree-level qualification in English, and at least Level 2 in Maths

  • Knowledge of SEND and ability to adapt teaching for diverse learner needs

  • Experience teaching young people with challenging behaviour, complex needs, or SEND

  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills

  • Flexible, solution-focused, and able to work collaboratively in a small school environment

Desirable: Experience in team management, addressing social exclusion, or working with vulnerable learners
