The School Nurse will work in the School’s busy Medical Centre, providing high-quality care to support the health and wellbeing of students. Care will be delivered across the Medical Centre, sports fields, and boarding houses, in conjunction with House Parents, Pastoral Leaders, and the Sports Department. The role requires both strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently and autonomously as a clinician.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care, triage, and wellbeing support to students, staff, and visitors, including developing appropriate treatment plans.
  • Monitor and support unwell students across the School, liaising with House staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure coordinated care.
  • Promote health and wellbeing education, delivering guidance and preventative care programs, including immunisations in collaboration with NHS teams.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring confidentiality, compliance, and communication with relevant parties.
  • Support boarding houses with health needs, medication management, and first aid provision, including controlled substances.
  • Assist with School GP clinics, medical policy development, student medical checks, and onboarding processes.
  • Manage medical supplies, audits, and stock rotation across the Medical Centre, first aid kits, and trip bags.
  • Uphold professional standards, safeguarding, and statutory requirements while fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.

Further Information

The position is for 22.5 hours per week, worked on a rota basis, with shifts scheduled between 0700am and 1900 pm, Monday to Sunday.

The starting salary is DYR8.35 - £38,707 per annum (FTE), pro rata £19,863 per annum.
