Teaching Assistant – Early Years (EYFS)

Start date: 1st January 2026
Hours: 8:30am – 3:15pm, Monday to Friday (term time only, with 30 minutes for lunch)
Contract: Part-time, fixed-term (linked to funding) until enf of July 2026 with the possibility of being extended further. 
Salary: Kent Range A – £15,562 per annum (pro rata-approx)

We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly Early Years team at High Halden CE Primary School.

This role involves working closely with the class teacher and class-based TA to provide additional support for individuals and small groups of children within our EYFS class. The successful candidate will help pupils to flourish through high-quality intervention, nurture, and care.

The role will include:

  • Supporting individuals and small groups to access learning and make progress.

  • Leading and delivering targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.

  • Supporting daily class routines, transitions, and learning activities across the EYFS curriculum.

  • Promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and independence through consistent and nurturing support.

  • Working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to support each child’s needs.

  • Contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has a calm, nurturing approach and a genuine love of working with young children.

  • Can follow direction but also use initiative to support learning.

  • Has good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Understands the importance of early childhood development and inclusion.

  • Is willing to engage in ongoing professional development.
