Medway Scale, Grade B2   

£37,280 to £46,142 per annum

Abbey Court School caters for pupils aged 3-19 with Severe Learning Difficulties, and is currently located on 2 Strood sites; Cliffe Road (Nursery, Primary and new Secondary provision, designed and purpose built specifically to meet the needs of our pupils) and Rede Court Road (Further Education). The primary site is also home to our school farm!

Working hours are 37 per week (52 weeks per year)

Comprehensive training and induction will be provided.

We’re seeking a skilled Estates Manager to oversee the maintenance, safety, and presentation of multi-site facilities.  This includes specialist areas such as hydrotherapy pools, a school farm, and a fleet of vehicles.  You’ll ensure a safe, clean and well-managed environment that supports pupils with complex learning needs.

You’ll lead a team of caretakers and cleaners, manage contractors, and ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations.  This role involves emergency planning, site security, and strategic oversight of all maintenance and improvement works. 

We’re look for someone with estates or facilities management experience, ideally in education or health care, with strong leadership and organisational skills.  IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications and experience in SEND settings are desirable.

Information about the school

Abbey Court Foundation Special School is maintained by Medway Local Authority for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties(SLD) or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties(PMLD) as their main presenting need. Additional educational needs may include visual/hearing impediment, sensory impairment, autism and or physical disability. We cater for pupils aged 3-19 years. All pupils have Educational Care Plans or Statements of Special Educational Needs.
