Join Our Small, Family-Style SEN School

About Us

We’re a very small, friendly SEN school with a genuine family feel. Everyone—staff and students alike—is known, valued, and supported. Our strength lies in our close-knit community: a team that works together with warmth, humour, and dedication to bring out the very best in every young person.

Relationships come first here. With small class sizes and a personalised approach, we create a calm, nurturing environment where students feel seen, understood, and able to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. It’s a truly special place to work, and we’re proud of the difference we make every day.

The Role

We are looking for an inspiring and committed Lead in English to take ownership of English across our small school.
You’ll be the driving force behind how English is taught, helping to shape and refine a curriculum that is creative, engaging, and accessible for every learner.

As our only English specialist, you’ll have the autonomy to design and deliver lessons that truly fit our students’ needs—and to build something meaningful that reflects your own passion and expertise. You won’t be managing a department, but you will lead the way in ensuring English continues to be a vibrant, valued part of school life.

This role would suit an experienced teacher who’s looking to make a real impact in a smaller, more personal environment—or someone ready to take the next step into subject leadership without the pressure of managing a large team.

We’re also looking for someone who wants to grow with us—as our school develops, there will be opportunities to shape your role and make a lasting contribution to our future.

What We Offer

  • A genuinely warm, family-style working environment where everyone is supported and appreciated

  • A healthy work–life balance – small classes, realistic expectations, and time to do things properly

  • The chance to lead and shape English across the school

  • Freedom to teach creatively and tailor lessons to individual needs

  • Ongoing professional development and room to grow with the school

  • A close, caring team that works collaboratively and celebrates individuality

  • A role where your ideas matter and your impact is seen every single day

About You

  • A qualified teacher (QTS) with a specialism in English

  • Experience of, or a genuine interest in, working with young people with additional needs

  • Creative, reflective, and able to design an inclusive and engaging curriculum

  • Positive, patient, and resilient—with a good sense of humour and a team spirit

  • Excited to be part of a small, growing school where relationships and wellbeing come first

Come and See Us

We warmly encourage visits—you’ll feel the difference as soon as you walk through the door. If you’re looking for a role where you can lead your subject, grow with the school, and still have time to enjoy life outside of work, we’d love to meet you.
