We are seeking to appoint a suitably skilled Caretaker to work alongside the school’s Site Manager across both Kennington Junior Academy and Downs View Infant School. The role is to support the Site Manager and Senior Leadership Team to keep the school environment a safe and welcoming place to learn.

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, flexible and be able to work well in a team. They will have good communication skills and a secure understanding of the health and safety requirements of public buildings.

This is a permanent contract for 35 hrs per week, Monday to Friday 10.45am-6.15pm including a 30 minute unpaid lunch, (possible weekend with in lieu of weekday hours).

Kennington CE Academy is 3 form entry (12 classes) for Key stage 2 of 360 pupils, situated in North Ashford and serving a mixed community of children who are enthusiastic about learning and their school.

We have strong relationships with our feeder Infant school, Downs View and The Towers, our nearest high school. Our church school status has led us to develop close links with the local parish church. We are sponsored by Aquila, the Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust (www.aquilatrust.co.uk)

Downs View is a two-form entry purpose built Infant School on the outskirts of Ashford. We have 186 children in our school. We enjoy an excellent partnership with other local schools and settings, including Kennington C of E Academy. In October 2023 we were graded Good overall by Ofsted with Outstanding n Early years, Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development. We have extensive grounds which we utilise to maximise learning. We have embraced OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) which is having a positive impact on play at playtimes and lunch times. We are part of a very proactive CATs collaboration where we benefit from working in partnership with fifteen other local schools in Ashford.
