We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and reliable inclusion practitioner to work as part of our intervention team.  This group work across the school supporting pupils with significant additional needs who regularly require bespoke provision both within and outside the classroom environment. Although pupils with all types of needs will be worked with during a week, our team has members who have areas of specialism. This role will have a focus on physical and motor skill development which will require leading Fizzy or Sensory Circuit sessions daily.

Experience of supporting people with special needs or disabilities is essential, although not necessarily in a school role. It is also crucial that you can show you can build successful relationships with pupils, show flexibility in response to fluctuating needs and show an ability to learn quickly. The successful applicant will have a good standard of English.

Our inclusion practitioners are accountable to the SENCO, sharing the responsibility for raising standards and equipping the children with the skills and dispositions to be successful in life. This role is one, within the school and our trust, which allows for career progression for support staff.

Our fantastic pupils and positive, committed staff will ensure that you are welcomed into our team of reflective professionals. We are looking for someone who identifies with our ethos – this is not ‘just a job’. If you like the sound of the challenging but hugely rewarding circumstances in which we work, we would love to hear from you.

This role is for 38 weeks a year, working from 8.45am to 3.15pm five days a week.

The School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. At interview your motivation for working with children will be explored as well as aspects from your application form. Appointment to this post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. As part of the application process, we carry out online searches about candidates.

Please apply online through the Kent Teach website, detailing, in your ‘Personal Statement', how you fit the person specification. If you are shortlisted, you will be informed by e-mail soon after the closing date. It is possible, if we get large numbers of applications, that we phone you after the closing date to check that you are still interested in the vacancy.

Information about the school

Bysing Wood is a friendly Primary School located on the western outskirts of Faversham. The school is growing in popularity, building on a successful Ofsted and the fantastic range of facilities offered alongside a great atmosphere. Currently the school has 230 children on roll, organised into 10 classes from Nursery to Year 6. A building project provided the base for our Key Stage 2 classes and an extra hall. September 2018 saw the start of a Forest School provision on site and we opened a pre-school in January 2020, catering for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. In March 2020, we were a founder member of EKC Schools Trust, which provides access to the EKC Group colleges resources to further enrich our curriculum. At Bysing Wood Primary School we value each child as an individual and encourage them to achieve their personal best in a happy, secure, stimulating environment. The displays in school are a major strength and help evidence the rich, relevant, termly topic-based curriculum (with associated visitors and trips) on offer. Our staff are committed to developing the whole child, encouraging learning through knowledge, skills and practical activities. We also support them to become tolerant, respectful and caring individuals who enjoy their work and play and are proud of their achievements. The proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals is high, pointing to the social and economic challenges facing a proportion of our families, although the profile is changing over time as the housing developments in Faversham come on stream.
