We are looking for a special person to join our team as a SENDCo Assistant, working 20 hours per week during term time. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive difference to pupils who may face barriers to their learning. The initial contract is on a fixed term basis until the end of the academic year (August 2025), though there is the potential for this to be a permanent role. It is important for us to find the right person for our team: we are able to offer flexible working, with hours spread across the week or concentrated on specific days.

The position would be ideal for a highly-skilled teaching assistant with experience of working with pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs who is looking to take the next step in their career, or for someone who is ambitious to use their skills and passion for making a difference to pupils with SEND through working in a highly successful school.

Ideally the successful candidate will be able to commence the role early in Term 2 (November 2025) but we would not discourage people from enquiring should they not be able to start by this time.

  • Are you committed to promoting outcomes for children with SEND, helping them to be happy and successful?
  • Do you have knowledge and experience of working with pupils with SEND and are able to make a positive difference to their learning and achievement?
  • Are you caring, supportive and encouraging?

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can support the SENDCo’s work in the identification of need, for example facilitating assessments and screening tools
  • Supports the SEND team and school staff to map provisions
  • Delivers a range of targeted interventions
  • Carries out administrative duties to support the requirements of the SEND team
  • Communicates effectively with staff, parents/carers and other professionals
  • Has the drive to make a real difference to the lives of pupils in an area of coastal disadvantage
  • Shows optimism, positivity and ambition for the school, its pupils and the Trust
