St George’s School is a high-performing, inclusive and welcoming community where staff and students alike are encouraged to strive for excellence.  We are seeking a friendly, professional and highly organised Receptionist to join our Secondary Administrative Team from January 2026 to cover a period of maternity leave.  The role would be 3 days a week, working Monday – Wednesday, 8.00am – 4.00pm with a 30 minute unpaid break each day.

As the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and visitors, you will play a vital role in creating a positive and professional impression of the school. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a calm, approachable manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming and efficient reception service for students, parents, staff, and visitors, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
  • Answer and direct telephone calls promptly, relaying accurate messages and maintaining call logs.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, deliveries, and general correspondence.
  • Support school administration, including room bookings, reprographics, and distribution of pupil bus passes.
  • Maintain a tidy and professional reception area, representing the school’s values at all times.
  • Provide general administrative support and assist with reception cover at other sites when required.

  • Is confident in using IT systems and office equipment.
  • Demonstrates accuracy, discretion, and reliability.
  • Can work independently and as part of a supportive team.
  • Has a warm, professional manner and enjoys working in a school environment.
