About the Role

Due to promotion, Fortis Trust is seeking to appoint an Assistant Principal: Behaviour & Culture to join the leadership team at Bradfields Academy. This is a pivotal role for an ambitious leader who is passionate about inclusive education, safeguarding, and the development of a positive school culture.

As Assistant Principal: Behaviour & Culture, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for leading on all aspects of behaviour, pastoral care, and safeguarding across the academy. You will work closely with the Vice Principal: Behaviour & Culture, the Principal, and the Executive Principal/CEO to ensure the highest standards of support and care for all students, including those who are looked after.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership of behaviour and culture, ensuring a safe, calm, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) with responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, including online safety.
  • Designated Looked After Children Lead (DLAC), overseeing the PEP process and reporting on the impact of Pupil Premium funding.
  • Management of staff and resources within the pastoral team, including Engagement Support Leads, tutors, and the Parent Carer Partnership Team.
  • Development, implementation, and review of the pastoral curriculum and policies.
  • Monitoring, analysing, and reporting on pastoral standards and student progress.
  • Leading on attendance, behaviour interventions, and the inclusion and wellbeing of all students.
  • Building strong relationships with students, staff, parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Leading and delivering safeguarding and pastoral training for staff.
  • Deputising for the Vice Principal as required.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Substantial experience in a middle leadership or pastoral role, with a proven record of raising academic standards and improving outcomes.
  • Experience of managing staff and resources, and working with external agencies and stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of behaviour management, safeguarding, and pastoral systems.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the values and ethos of Fortis Trust, with high expectations of self and others.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a solution-focused approach.
