Exams Officer & Data Administrator

Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Band 6

Are you highly organised, detail-focused, and ready to play a key role in supporting young people’s success?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Exams Officer & Data Administrator to join our forward-thinking secondary school.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference behind the scenes: ensuring examinations run smoothly for our students and helping us use data effectively to celebrate achievements and drive progress.

Why Join Us?

  • Be at the heart of one of the most important moments in our students’ school journey.

  • Work closely with senior leaders and departments, shaping the way student performance is monitored and supported.

  • Join a supportive and collaborative team who value professionalism, innovation, and staff development.

  • Benefit from professional training opportunities to strengthen your skills in exams administration, data analysis, and MIS systems.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the smooth running of all internal and external exams (GCSE, BTEC, A Level and more), ensuring every detail is covered and deadlines are met.

  • Recruit, train, and manage our invigilator team, ensuring exams are fair and compliant.

  • Prepare timetables, seating plans, and exam day arrangements – supporting both staff and students every step of the way.

  • Securely manage papers, coursework, results days and certificates.

  • Work with our MIS and assessment systems to analyse data, create reports, and provide insights to teachers, leaders, and governors.

  • Support the wider administration of the school, contributing to a culture of high standards and continuous improvement.

  • Work with the Access Arrangements co-ordinator to ensure we are compliant and meeting the needs of students with SEND

About You:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Exceptionally organised and calm under pressure.

  • Comfortable with data and confident using IT systems (Excel/MIS experience is an advantage).

  • A strong communicator who can work positively with staff, students, and parents.

  • Motivated by accuracy, fairness, and helping students achieve their best.

 What We Offer:

  • A key role in a large, successful secondary school with high aspirations for every student.

  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.

  • A positive, supportive workplace where staff wellbeing is valued.

  • The chance to be part of a team that makes exam days and results days truly memorable milestones for our young people.

Information about the school

Herne Bay High School is a large hugely successful Single Academy Trust that serves the Herne Bay coastal area of North Kent. We have a comprehensive intake and are significantly oversubscribed in all year groups and in June 2022 Ofsted rated the school good with an Outstanding 6th form provision.

Whilst academic rigour and examination success is at the forefront of our development, we passionately believe that a broad, balanced approach to education is important and as such we place great emphasis on the Creative and Performing Arts, Technology, and Sport as a key part of a young person’s early educational journey. Herne Bay High School is also a champion of collaborative practice.

Safeguarding Commitment: At Herne Bay High, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. As such, all applicants will be required to undergo comprehensive child protection screening, including checks with past employers, the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS), and Barred List Checks. If you share our commitment to safeguarding and child welfare, we encourage you to apply.
