Goldwyn School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Construction Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team, supporting children and young people with a ranged of special educational needs.  This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who face significant barriers to learning.

As we continue to grow and build on our success, this is an exciting time to become part of our organisation.  All our students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and present with a variety of needs including Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

About the Role

You will support the delivery of practical construction-based learning, helping students develop vocational skills and confidence. Your input will be vital in creating bespoke learning experiences that engage and inspire.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
  • Brings experience in construction trades such as bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, construction operations, wall and floor tiling, electrical or plumbing.  We also welcome applications from practical individuals with strong DIY skills.
  • Ideally has experience or understanding of working with young people with SEN
  • Is a team player willing to collaborate and contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment
  • Demonstrates creativity, patience, resilience and calmness in challenging situations
  • Is flexible and adaptable, able to respond to changing needs and priorities
  • Has a proven ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a demanding educational setting

Salary:

This post is offered on KSB £25,1268 per annum pro rata plus SEN Allowance of £1484.972 per annum and is for 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks a year (term time only plus 5 staff development days).   Actual salary is £20,659.58 per annum including SENA
