Ever wondered what it would be like to work for a Trust who not only fully support your professional development but put your well-being at the heart of decision making?

We are delighted that Alternative Learning Trust, have two newly established provisions in the Isle of Sheppey. We are operating two schools within one site community and are so excited about the wealth of experience and expertise in the building to serve our community effectively.

Estuary Academy Island is our Alternative provision which initially opened in September 2024 to provide education for up to 115 students. It offers a broad and balanced learning journey for students in Years 7 – 11 with a broad range of vocational qualifications available as well as traditional GCSEs in core subjects. Our aim is to provide pathways which lead to exciting onward opportunities in education or workplaces.

Nore Academy then opened its doors early in 2025 catering for young people aged 11-16 with a primary need of SEMH and other related areas of SEN such as ASC and communication difficulties. The first phase of opening saw 48 pupils joins across KS3 and 4 and we are currently growing to 72 places in 2025, many of whom may have been out of school for some time and desperately need support from ambitious, driven teaching and support staff who care deeply about pupils’ emotional as well as academic development.

We are looking to recruit a team of SEN teachers who can teach a range of subjects; we would especially like to hear from you if you have experience within secondary settings teaching up to GCSE level. Above all we are looking for highly skilled but also flexible teaching staff who can work collaboratively.

This role will suit experienced SEN practitioners, primary teachers or secondary subject specialists. Professionals with extensive experience in SEMH are encouraged to apply.

All successful candidates will have ambitious expectations for all pupils and a desire to drive high standards and educational outcomes. All successful candidates will also have a willingness to take on new skills and approaches to meet pupils educational and emotional needs.

Who we are looking for:

Qualified teachers or ECTs with experience in SEN, primary or secondary education be that within special or mainstream.

  • Candidates with the subject knowledge and classroom practice to teach across both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, over a range of subjects and ideally with maths or science as a specialist subject.
  • A commitment to motivating learners while challenging and supporting them to achieve their potential.
  • Candidates who are child-centred, organised, resourceful and proactive.
  • Candidates with a desire to continually improve own teaching and classroom practice.

This is a full-time, permanent position on teachers’ pay scale open to UQT/ECT/MPS/UPS + SEN allowance.
