We are seeking a passionate and highly organised SENCO, to lead the provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities across the school, following our Gospel Values and mission statement in the light and ways of Christ. Working closely with staff, families, external agencies and local authorities as well as engaging in relevant training and meetings within KCSP.

As SENCO, you will play a central role in ensuring every learner receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development of SEN policy and provision across the setting.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of SEN support, ensuring high standards and effective delivery.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the writing and reviewing of Education, Health and Care Plans
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to implement and monitor Individual Learning Plans and Intervention Timetables
  • Liaise with families and external professionals to ensure cohesive support for each learner.
  • Oversee assessments, reviews, and annual reviews in line with statutory requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff to ensure an inclusive education for all

 

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • The National Award for SEN Coordination or working towards it.
  • A thorough working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, an excellent understanding of the multi-agency process, and other relevant statutory guidance
  • A working knowledge of the mainstream core standards and how they can be used to inform inclusive practice 
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to inspire staff and build strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • A proven track record of working with and supporting vulnerable pupils and students with a range of SEN needs
  • Extensive safeguarding knowledge and experience from Foundation Stage to Year Six
  • Experience of previously serving as an Improvement Champion, demonstrating a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.
  • Ideally a practising Catholic
