Advert

We are looking for experienced and passionate teachers to work in our dedicated SEND unit. We have the opportunity for 2 new teachers as we expand our provision.  This is an exciting role suitable for qualified teachers or those with experiences working within SEND provision.  For those applicants without QTS, we offer pathways to gaining QTS.  Suitable applicants will have experiences of working within SEND provisions.   We are ideally looking for full time teachers, but we are happy to consider applications from those seeking part time working patterns.  Please make it clear in any personal statement whether you are seeing full time or part time working patterns with any details, e.g. 4 days a week.  We are also flexible with start dates - we can accommodate immediate start dates (pending pre-employment checks) or start dates during the Autumn term.  We would also be willing to consider applications for those applicants looking to start a new role at the beginning of January 2026.  Visits can be arranged by calling the school office on 01959 532224.

In partnership with Kent Local Authority,  Halstead Community Primary School have opened a SEND unit for children with Autistic Spectrum Condition.  This was initially for Reception and Year 1 aged pupils and we are now extending this to other year groups.   Kent special schools and enhanced learning provisions offer appropriate placements for children and young people with the most significant needs, who require a curriculum which is wrapped around them so that they can engage in learning.  Special School and Enhanced Learning Provisions form part of the local authority’s continuum of provision and services which is for children and young people with SEND. The SEND unit curriculum is topic based and is a blend of practical learning, and activities to develop social communication skills, listening, speaking and attention. There is also a focus on sensory needs, behaviour and play. The children all have individual packages of support according to their own particular needs.
