Lecturer - English

Location: Folkestone College

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: Temporary (until 31 August 2026)
Potential for Curriculum Lead/Programme Director responsibilities

Are you passionate about helping students discover their potential through English? Do you enjoy creating inclusive, engaging lessons that challenge misconceptions and build confidence?

At East Kent Colleges Group – Folkestone College, we’re committed to delivering high-quality education that supports learners from all backgrounds. We’re looking for a dedicated English Lecturer to join our team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.

๐Ÿ”น What You’ll Do

  • Deliver engaging English lessons across a range of levels, tailored to individual learner needs.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student progress.
  • Contribute to a curriculum that reflects local and regional skills needs.
  • Design course materials and activities aligned with awarding body criteria.
  • Support students with clear assessment schedules and learning objectives.

This is a teaching-focused role, but for candidates with the right experience, a Curriculum Lead/Programme Director opportunity may be available. This would include additional responsibility for curriculum development and team coordination, alongside teaching. The role attracts a higher salary and offers valuable CPD.

Internal applicants may be considered for a secondment.

๐Ÿ”น Why Work With Us?

We value our staff and offer a range of benefits:

  • Generous holiday allowance aligned with the academic calendar
  • £7,000 investment in teacher training through our in-house Teaching Academy
  • Flexible personal leave for life events (e.g. child’s first day at school, moving house)
  • Discounts on retail, tech, travel, and more
  • Health and wellbeing support, including counselling, gym membership, and medical flexibility
  • Competitive pension scheme with 28% employer contribution
  • Recognition events and a strong commitment to sustainability

๐Ÿ”น About You

You’re organised, creative, and able to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons. You’ll inspire learners, track progress, and implement effective interventions. While teaching experience is an advantage, it’s not essential—training and support will be provided. What matters most is your empathy, classroom presence, and commitment to student success.
