A brand new role is available at our amazing school! We are looking for a Finance assistant to join our office and support our leadership team.

The Finance Assistant will provide high-quality financial support to ensure the effective and efficient management of the school’s budget. The postholder will undertake a range of financial and administrative duties in line with the school’s financial policies and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process financial transactions, including purchase orders, invoices, cheque preparation, banking, receipts, and supplier queries.
  • Check, record, and distribute incoming stock deliveries.
  • Monitor monthly budgets and report variances to the Headteacher.
  • Prepare financial information and reports to support the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Receive, record, and reconcile income from parents/carers and pupils (e.g. trips, uniforms, photographs).
  • Undertake financial reconciliations, including bank accounts, petty cash, and purchase ledger control accounts.
  • Collate VAT returns and process payments.

Additional duties will include:

  • Providing general administrative support working alongside the Office Manager, including reception duties, correspondence, filing, and word processing.
  • Assisting with the administration of school lettings.
  • Maintaining records of free school meals and related financial administration, in accordance with KCC financial regulations.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Previous experience of financial administration.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and working with integrity.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a school or education setting.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations in schools or the public sector.
