Are you a dedicated Tutor who has enthusiasm and passion for working with learners with special educational needs?

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Tutor to join the ALP Schools team at our ALP Sittingbourne campus.

About The Role

As the successful Tutor you will work as part of the Tutor team in supporting and guiding learners with learning difficulties/disabilities in both individual and small group learning sessions.

You may work with primary, secondary or Post 16 learners to support and assist them in establishing good attendance, positive relationships, a routine, trust and respect for the environment and the people within it. The post holder will support teaching and learning with the school.

Additional Information

This is a full time, permanent, term time only position which is 40 weeks per year. You will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Essential Criteria

  • Good knowledge of special educational needs & disabilities
  • Relevant experience of addressing social exclusion, including;youth work, alternative education provisions, community development, dealing with vulnerable people and those with complex needs (SEN)
  • Understanding of working with people with challenging behaviour, complex needs or disabilities
  • Willing to keep up to date in subject knowledge and national developments

Desirable Criteria

  • Educated to A level or above
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and their application
  • Full UK driving licence

About the Company

ALP Sittingbourne is a new school looking to grow to 40 learners. Class sizes are small, ranging from one to one teaching to classes of up to 6 learners. The school’s vision is to empower success through holistic and individualised learning.

ALP Schools provide continuity in learning for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans. We are a provision for learners on the autistic spectrum or who have other special educational needs and challenging behaviour. We cater for young people in their primary, secondary and post 16 school years. The overarching purpose of our provision is to work with children so that they are able to overcome the barriers to learning that they have previously encountered. We aim to offer flexible, structured and supportive needs led approaches.
