 Permanent contract - 37 hours | Term Time + 4 weeks |

Start Date: September 2025

Are you passionate about creating outdoor learning experiences that inspire curiosity, build confidence, and support social, emotional and mental health (SEMH)? Do you believe in the power of relationships, structure and therapeutic approaches to unlock potential? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

At The Orchard School, Everyone Matters. Everyone Cares. We are a cross-phase SEMH school (Year 2 to Year 11) in Canterbury, and we are looking for an experienced, relational and values-led practitioner to join us as our new Outdoor Learning and Educational Visits Coordinator.

This is a unique role that brings together the delivery of therapeutic outdoor learning, coordination of off-site visits, and collaboration with our site team to create safe and engaging outdoor environments. It also includes 4 weeks of assistant site management support during the school holiday closures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and leading outdoor learning rooted in Therapeutic Thinking.
  • Coordinating and quality-assuring educational visits and enrichment activities.
  • Supporting class teams with nature-based interventions and practical curriculum links.
  • Liaising with the buildings team to enhance and maintain outdoor learning spaces.
  • Contributing to site safety and readiness during part of the summer holiday.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Forest School Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Has experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs.
  • Can plan, deliver and evaluate structured outdoor sessions that support regulation and engagement.
  • Understands behaviour as communication and applies relational practice consistently.
  • Is confident with risk assessment and willing to undertake EVC training (if not already held).

We can offer:

  • A values-led school where trust, belonging and aspiration underpin everything we do.
  • A committed, caring staff team and a highly supportive leadership structure.
  • A culture that recognises and responds to the individual needs of pupils and staff.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and meaningful impact.

At The Orchard School, we believe every interaction is an opportunity to build safety, trust and growth. We use Therapeutic Thinking to guide our practice and The Orchard Way to shape how we think, act and treat each other. If you’re ready to model Ready, Respectful, Safe in every corner of our learning environment-indoors, outdoors and beyond-then we’d love to hear from you.
