Midday Meal Supervisor

Working Monday to Friday, 12.5 hours per week (11.30am-2pm), Term Time Only

Oakley School is the Tunbridge Wells District Special School for day pupils, aged from 3 to 19 years, all of whom have severe/complex needs and communication and learning difficulties.

We are seeking to recruit Midday Meal Supervisors to join our friendly, positive and forward-looking team in SeptOct 2025

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a range of needs in a caring and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities Include:
• Set up the dining hall with tables, chairs, placemats, cutlery, and other necessary items.
• Supervise and assist pupils during mealtimes to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
• Encourage pupils to remain seated and behave appropriately while eating.
• Provide help where needed, such as serving drinks, cutting up food etc.
• Clear plates and utensils from tables to keep the dining area clean and tidy.
• Wipe down tables, sweep/mop floors, and leave the dining hall clean after meals, working as part of the midday team.
• Empty bins, wash aprons, and clean/replenish baskets as required.
• Alert relevant staff promptly if first aid is needed during lunchtime.

Candidates do not need experience of working in a special needs or education environment, although it would be advantageous, as would experience of Early Years.

There are many development opportunities for those interested in career progression, including into teaching and other types of work with children and young people.

The salary is Kent Range KSA £24, 513 and reduced pro-rata for the hours/weeks worked

Oakley School is the Tunbridge Wells District Special School for day pupils, aged from 3 to 19 years, with a specialist Observation and Assessment Nursery for 3-5 years. All our children and young people have profound, severe/complex needs and communication and learning difficulties.

We have a site in Tonbridge which caters for our Phase 4 (16+) students and a site in Tunbridge Wells which caters for children and young people from the age of 3 to 16. Our one-day Section 8 OFSTED inspection in October 2024 reaffirmed us as 'Good'. We aspire to be outstanding in all that we do.
