Advert

We are looking for a sports enthusiast to provide support for the huge amount of representative sport which our school provides. If you are a sports allrounder with a passion for supporting children to do their best and improve on their best we would love to hear from you.

As demonstrated on our website, our pupils have access to one of the best representative sports offers in the local area. Whether regular fixtures after school in Faversham, Whitstable & Herne Bay, or daytime competitions, we regularly have pupils of all ages competing on behalf of our school in a vast range of sports. So far this year we have had 100 fixtures and competitions.

Currently, we have a PE & sport teacher who runs all of our provision but we now need a dedicated assistant who will allow us to participate without needing to withdraw other support staff from class roles. Right now, we have the finances to offer a 12 hour a week role but the intention is to increase the hours in future. We see this vacancy as a starting point and would hope to attract someone who wants to stay long term.

The role will require some flexibility in the days and times worked, but will be able to be planned in advance, when we know what the schedule is for the year. The flexibility in when hours are worked does not impact on pay, as the salary is paid in equal monthly amounts.

Please apply using the Kent Teach online form and use the Personal Statement section to tell us what makes you special and the right fit for our school and the role here.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils. You are advised that this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and therefore this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Please be aware that schools are also required to undertake online recruitment checks on shortlisted candidates under changes to Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Information about the school

Bysing Wood is a friendly Primary School located on the western outskirts of Faversham. The school is growing in popularity, building on a successful Ofsted and the fantastic range of facilities offered alongside a great atmosphere. Currently the school has 230 children on roll, organised into 10 classes from Nursery to Year 6. A building project provided the base for our Key Stage 2 classes and an extra hall. September 2018 saw the start of a Forest School provision on site and we opened a pre-school in January 2020, catering for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. In March 2020, we were a founder member of EKC Schools Trust, which provides access to the EKC Group colleges resources to further enrich our curriculum. At Bysing Wood Primary School we value each child as an individual and encourage them to achieve their personal best in a happy, secure, stimulating environment. The displays in school are a major strength and help evidence the rich, relevant, termly topic-based curriculum (with associated visitors and trips) on offer. Our staff are committed to developing the whole child, encouraging learning through knowledge, skills and practical activities. We also support them to become tolerant, respectful and caring individuals who enjoy their work and play and are proud of their achievements. The proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals is high, pointing to the social and economic challenges facing a proportion of our families, although the profile is changing over time as the housing developments in Faversham come on stream.
