Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced SENDCo to join our team at Parkview Academy. The SENDCo will be responsible for overseeing the school’s provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that these students receive the support they need to succeed. This is a key leadership role within the school, working closely with senior leadership, staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure effective provision for SEND students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate the school’s SEND provision, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to implement and review the school’s SEND policy and strategies.
  • Develop and oversee individual education plans (IEPs) for students with SEND, ensuring they are tailored to meet each student's needs and regularly reviewed.
  • Coordinate and support the work of Teaching Assistants and other staff involved in the provision for students with SEND.
  • Provide guidance, training, and professional development for teaching staff on best practices for supporting students with SEND.
  • Act as the main point of contact for parents and carers of SEND students, maintaining strong and effective communication.
  • Monitor the progress of SEND students, track outcomes, and ensure appropriate interventions are in place to support their academic and emotional development.
  • Work with external agencies, such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and other professionals, to ensure students receive the support they need.
  • Lead and manage referrals for additional support and services, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all SEND students, including assessments, reports, and interventions.
  • Contribute to the development of a whole-school approach to inclusion, diversity, and equality.
  • Keep abreast of developments in SEND education, ensuring that the school’s provision reflects best practice and current educational policy.
