Learning Mentor (Full-Time/Part-Time Positions Available)

32.5 hours per week for a full-time position 39 weeks per year. £19,237 (£25,126 FTE)

At Astor Secondary School, we are committed to unlocking every student’s potential. As part of our drive to provide outstanding welfare and academic support, we are looking to appoint passionate and dedicated Learning Mentors to join our growing team.

About the Role

Learning Mentors at Astor will play a vital role in supporting our students—particularly those who may face challenges in accessing learning. You will work closely with students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them to build confidence, improve attendance, overcome barriers to learning, and develop strategies for success both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to identified students to improve academic progress and personal wellbeing
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and welfare teams to deliver coordinated mentoring plans
  • Monitor and track student progress, behaviour, and attendance
  • Deliver motivational sessions, build trust, and act as a positive role model
  • Help students set and achieve realistic goals

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students (in a school or youth work setting preferred)
