Bethersden Primary School is looking for a caretaker who is able to demonstrate care, attention to detail and flexibility to this role, and take a real pride in maintaining our buildings and grounds.

We're looking for someone who can make sure our school environment reflects the same high standards and care which we have for our children. We believe that every child should walk into a school which is well cared for, tidy, clean and safe.

We are a small, friendly primary school, with a variety of buildings and facilities. We’re looking for someone who has a range of maintenance skills, and who can keep our school building and facilities working and safe. They will ideally have some experience of compliance testing.

Responsibilities will include unlocking the school every morning, therefore the core hours we need are Monday to Friday during term time (38 weeks a year).

We have some flexibility with working pattern. It may be that these are spread over the week- for example 2 hours every morning, from 7:00am-9:00am. Alternatively it may be that hours are worked 7:00-8:00 every day, and then 7:00-13:00 one day a week.

As a school we are willing to be flexible for the right person. There may be additional overtime by arrangement.

If this sounds like a role you would be interested in, please have a look at the attached job description and person specification for further details. If you have any questions about the role please get in touch.

Bethersden Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy.

Information about the school

We are a small, friendly, village primary school with 118 children taught in 5 classes. Our rural location just off the A28 between Ashford and Tenterden means we serve families from the village and the wider area. We have received a Good grading in our most recent Ofsted inspection (June 2023).

Our large site has extensive grounds, which includes a gardening area and large playing field.

We have a friendly, dedicated staff who work seamlessly together as a team, ensuring our children excel through a focus on quality first teaching and pastoral support.
