Finance Officer 

Permanent  

Salary: KSF  

Actual starting salary £26,383 per annum  
Hours: 37 hours per week 

Term Time only + 5 development days

We are now seeking a skilled Finance Officer to support our financial operations and play a key role in maintaining our robust financial systems. 

The Role 

You will report directly to the School Business Manager and be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school’s finance and payroll functions. This includes managing budgets, processing invoices and orders, overseeing petty cash, reconciling payroll, preparing VAT returns, and line managing the Finance Assistant. 

Key duties include: 

  • Inputting and amending data on the Bromcom accounting system 
  • Supporting budget monitoring and year-end procedures 
  • Guiding staff on procurement in line with financial regulations 
  • Monthly reconciliation of purchase cards and petty cash 
  • Processing orders, deliveries, invoices, and recharges 
  • Managing payroll entries, queries, and pension records 
  • Line management of the Finance Assistant 

 Person Specification 

Essential: 

  • Level 2 or above qualification in English and mathematics 
  • Proven finance experience 
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills 
  • Excellent organisation, initiative, and attention to detail 
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and independently 
  • Confidential and professional approach under pressure 

 Desirable: 

  • Experience with Bromcom or other educational finance software 
  • School or education sector finance experience 
  • Familiarity with payroll and pension processes 
  • Knowledge of consistent financial reporting (CFR) 
  • Line management experience
