We are looking to appoint a HLTA to organise, support and deliver teaching and learning activities for whole classes and small groups.  This will be for 28.75 hours a week (Monday to Friday 8.45am to 3.30pm with one hour for lunch) for 39 weeks of the school year – Term Time plus 5 INSET days.  This role will be to include covering PPA for teachers on four afternoons per week and the remaining hours to provide cover for teachers as and when needed and to provide intervention and other support across the school, as required, under the direction of the Assistant Headteachers. Included in your contracted hours will be some time for planning.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be qualified to Level 2 or 3 Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Be working at or towards the professional standards for HLTA
  • Be willing to work towards and obtain a HLTA qualification (if not already held)
  • Have relevant experience of covering whole classes
  • Be a good team player; flexible and prepared to use initiative
  • Have good literacy and mathematical skills
  • Be able to insist on high standards of behaviour and academic outcomes enabling all pupils to flourish
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills (written and verbal)
  • Support the Christian ethos and wider life of the school
  • Have the skills to be able to create resources and develop strategies to support all children as needs arise
  • Understand different SEND needs such as Autism, ADHD, ODD, ADD, Anxiety, EBSA, Attachment
  • Have high standards of work ethic and self-motivation
  • Have high standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional standards and team work

We are a Church of England Aided Junior school, situated in the heart of Whitstable. We are a two form entry school with a total of eight classes. Locally we are known as 'The Endowed' and we describe ourselves as an old school with a young heart. This year we are excited to be celebrating our 180th birthday!
