Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher looking for an exciting opportunity to shape the educational journey of secondary aged learners with special needs? Rivermead Special School is thrilled to be recruiting teachers for our new site in Lower Stoke, which will be the dedicated base for our Key Stage 3 learners, and a teacher to be based predominantly at our Rivermead site in Gillingham.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an expanding special school playing a key role in delivering an engaging curriculum that caters to the diverse learning needs of our amazing learners and fosters a love of learning. Our developing curriculum is designed to best support our learners' needs, promoting creativity, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.

Teachers at Rivermead can be predominantly based at one of our school sites, however, if needed, will be expected to work at any of the Rivermead sites.

As a Rivermead Teacher, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging and adapted lessons within our curriculum, catering to the diverse learning needs of learners with special needs.
  • Monitoring and assessing learner progress and working collaboratively with support staff to implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of effective intervention strategies to support learner progress.
  • Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment within the classroom that promotes the learning, personal development, and well-being of all learners.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Rivermead provisions to share best practices.
  • Participating in the school’s staff development programme through coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school and upholding its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

We are looking for a teacher who is:

  • A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  • Experienced in teaching at a secondary or primary level, with an understanding of the KS3/4 curriculum.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of the needs of learners with special educational requirements.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Shows a commitment to inclusive education and a passion for supporting learners with special needs.
