Teaching Assistant

Speldhurst Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who has the ability to inspire, motivate and provide one-to-one support KS1 or lower KS2 pupil. Hours are daily 8.30am to 12.30am.

Speldhurst is an Outstanding school and this is a great opportunity to join our happy and motivated team. The school has a strong Christian ethos and is at the heart of the Speldhurst village community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic one-to-one teaching assistant who can hit the ground running to support a pupil in Year 3 from September 2025. You will have a passion for working with children and experience with younger pupils or in supporting individual pupils. The post is part-time, term-time only from 8.30am to 12.30pm daily and will include a lunch duty. 

Experience is an advantage but consideration will also be given to candidates with relevant skills. 

The ideal candidate will be a well organised practitioner who is able to use their own initiative and also be able to work as part of a team. You will be flexible in your approach, completely reliable and always enthusiastic and positive.

Having a working knowledge of the KS1 National Curriculum would be an advantage. Empathy and an ability to establish good working relationships with staff, parents and pupils are essential.

Necessary Experience:

  • Good standard of education
  • Empathy and positivity
  • The ability to take responsibility for small intervention groups.
  • Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Experience:  

  • Previous experience as a TA or in supporting pupils with SEN needs
  • Knowledge of EYFS/KS1/KS2
  • Knowledge of phonics 
  • Artistic/display ability

Qualifications:

Any of the following would be welcomed:

Teaching Assistant Level 3

HLTA

Degree in Early Childhood Studies/Education

Teaching Qualification

Experience as a KS1/KS2 Teaching Assistant

Visits to the school are encouraged

Speldhurst Church of England Aided Primary School is in a village 3 miles from Tunbridge Wells in Kent and is at the heart of a thriving village community. We are a small, caring school with just 212 pupils so it is possible to know every child.
