SEN Teacher Salary: T4(20) £29,841 - T5(31) £33,191

Location: Pierview Academy, Gravesend.

Contract type: Term Time Only (40 weeks)

ALP Schools are a growing chain of small independent schools catering for young people with special educational needs. Pierview Academy is a growing school in the process of expanding to 40 learners.

Class sizes will be small, ranging from one to one teaching to classes of up to 6 learners. The school's vision is to empower success through holistic and individualised learning. To achieve this we work with learners from 11-25yrs and ensure that their needs are met and that each individual is provided a wide range of learning opportunities.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic SEN teacher for a full time position with an immediate start date, we will consider waiting for a September start for the right candidate. An experienced teacher is desirable but applications from other colleagues, including those with experience in EYFS, primary or Secondary, will be welcomed.

Information about the school

Pierview Academy is an Independent Special Needs School for young people aged between 11 and 25 with an Education Health Care Plan. We are Ofsted registered and cater for 30 young people who have struggled in mainstream education due to their special educational needs.

Our unique selling point is that we offer small classes or one to one learning where the curriculum is tailored to the needs of the individual. We also recognise the importance of building routines, relationships, respect and trust in order to achieve successful teaching and learning.

The school is based in the heart of Gravesend town centre, which provides excellent local facilities for sport and recreation. The school benefits from several unique learning spaces. We have a vocational suite delivering woodcraft, textiles and photography and a unique art studio themed on the original interior of what was a printing engine room. The school has separate space for Sixth Form students and a Nurturing and Social Area (NASA) for those one require one to one support.

Pierview Academy ensures that all learners work towards a Foundation Learning Curriculum. This ensures that each individualised timetable includes as a minimum core skills in English, Maths and ICT, Vocational Learning and Personal and Social development.
