Steps to School Day Nursery are looking to recruit 'Bank Staff' that can support the nursery setting in times of need on a casual contract. (Multiple positions available)

Candidates will work to high safeguarding standards and have a genuine passion to work with and care for children.

We are a large nursery located in the heart of Borough Green village and on the grounds of Borough Green Primary School.

We care for children aged 3 months to 11 years in a warm and safe environment, where key relationships are at the heart of  all our children's development. All children attending Steps to School are given every opportunity to grow and develop at their own pace in a safe, friendly and stimulating environment. Each child's unique abilities are embraced and developed to enable them to reach their full potential.

Staff are trained to value each child and to teach the children that differences such as race and gender and religion should be celebrated. We are a caring and robust team who understand that the needs of our parents and children must always come on first.

Steps to School Day Nursery are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, therefore this post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Should further information be required please contact the Manager, Catherine Osborn, for information on 01732 780431/ steps@bgpschool.kent.sch.uk

Information about the school

Borough Green Primary School has been the heart of the community for over one hundred years – delivering a highly enjoyable experience-based education to many generations of 4 to 11-year-olds. With 9 classes, 3 in mixed year groups (3 x Years 5 & 6), the school cares for ~235 students. Steps to School, our on-site nursery, cares for children from 3-months old and supports the school with Breakfast and After School clubs.

As a Foundation School, the Governing Body has greater freedom in running the school – employing all staff, owning our buildings and land, and greater freedom in setting our policies, curriculum, and school year. Our Governing Body is heavily invested in the success of the school.

We aim for academic excellence, but we also recognise the importance of every child’s personal development. Our school ethos is warm, welcoming, and inclusive with a very strong family atmosphere that provides a great sense of belonging. With a child first, pupil second approach, you will lead our dedicated and tenacious staff in supporting children to develop our four key aspirational elements of Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity

Fundamental to our success is the quality, commitment, and teamwork of everyone involved with our school. Whatever their role, our staff are fully committed to supporting our children’s success, creating an environment where everyone is Ready, Respectful, & Ready; Safe to learn and to achieve our potential in all areas of the curriculum. We have recently implemented the Cornerstones Curriculum which you will continue to embed throughout all learning activities, across the foundation subjects.

We are immensely proud of our facilities – including our beautiful school building, housing a wonderful library space, a covered heated swimming pool, out-door education settings, and a large meadow. Our exceptional Parent Teacher Association provide significant funding to enrich the educational environment for our children, further instilling a sense of community with a number of well-attended events throughout the year. In 2022 and 2023, the PTA staged 2 successful music festivals to crowds in excess of 500 people. Many of our outdoor education settings have been fully funded by the PTA.

‘The school is a warm community where pupils are cared for.’ Ofsted March 2024

‘Pupils and staff enjoy warm and positive relationships.’ Ofsted March 2024

‘High ambitions for behaviour and learning have been clearly established.’ Ofsted March 2024
