Information about the school

Martello Primary is a one-form entry school situated in the East Cliff area of Folkestone. It opened to all year groups almost seven years ago and within this time has established strong provision across the school. It was rated by Ofsted in March 2022 as Good in all areas. The school additionally has a Specialist Resource Provision specifically supporting 15 children with a diagnosis of autism.

Being a small primary school means that we are able to maintain a ‘family’ feel to the school and really nurture our children’s needs. Many children who come to our school are disadvantaged and face challenges which could present barriers to their learning and achievement without the exceptional care of the committed staff team.

Links with the local community have brought many enrichment opportunities to pupils: the Locavore Community Garden hosts weekly outdoor learning lessons for pupils across the school and there are strong partnerships with local sporting and creative organisations.

Collaboration is strong between Martello and the four other excellent primaries in the Turner Trust; Chartham Primary, Folkestone Primary, Morehall Primary and St Stephens. Subject Networks are well-established, and a culture of sharing planning and expertise has been established. Staff report that they are happy and enjoy working at Martello.

Martello Primary is an exciting place to work, and somewhere you know you can make a positive difference to the lives of young people. We warmly encourage you to visit our school.
