We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, committed and inspirational Deputy Headteacher/SENDCo to work with the Headteacher, and Governors of the school, to maintain and promote the high expectations and vision for all our children to reach their full potential.

The successful applicant will be a qualified SENDCo and will have achieved, or be working towards, the NPQSL Leadership course or the NPQH.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner and be passionate about education
  • Assist the Headteacher in the leadership and management of the school and deputise in the headteacher’s absence.
  • Experience of working collaboratively to raise standards and have experience of leading change
  • Be motivated and have the ability to motivate others through strong working relationships
  • Be able to improve the standard of teaching in the school by coaching and mentoring
  • Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability.
  • Be solution focussed with a positive outlook and an ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
  • Take responsibility for leading and managing inclusion.
  • Take responsibility for pupil premium.
  • Be an experienced DSL and a core member of the safeguarding team.
  • Use software to work with pupil data; analysing, problem solving, action planning, target setting and evaluating data to raise standards
  • Have experience of working well with parents
  • Develop links with other Aquila schools and the local community.

You will have experience of leading whole school initiatives and of successfully leading teams. You will be a core member of the leadership team, working alongside the Headteacher to move the school forward.

There is an expectation that the Deputy Headteacher/SENCO will work closely with the Headteacher to lead on the promotion of the Christian ethos of the school, maintaining a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all pupils within a Christian setting.
