Canterbury Primary School – Catering Assistant

25hrs per week, Monday to Friday 09:30am to 14:30pm. Term Time Only

We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team! If you have experience in a busy kitchen, love working with fresh ingredients, and enjoy being part of a team that provides high-quality meals, we’d love to hear from you.

Ideally you will be from a catering background, but this is not essential as we will provide full training to those that really shine.

Duties to include:

• To assist in accepting, storing and checking stock.
• Ensure meals are cooked and served in a timely manner following safe food hygiene standards. Provide well balanced meals, at designated times and providing adequate choice.
• Assist with the cooking, serving of meals and cleaning of kitchen area, as appropriate, to provide an effective service.
• Efficiently handling the wash-up during the busy lunch service.
• Attend training courses as required.

 The ideal candidate will:

• Be experienced in working in a busy kitchen environment.
• Be passionate about helping to produce fresh food to a high standard.
• Be a good communicator.
• Be experienced at and enjoy working as part of a team.
• Enjoy working with young people.
• Comply with health and safety and hygiene standards.

Information about the federation

Based in the heart of the historic City of Canterbury, The Canterbury Academy Trust came into existence in October 2010 when schools judged by Ofsted to be ‘outstanding’ were allowed to convert to academy status, benefit from greater freedoms and shape their futures.

Since then The Canterbury Academy Trust has grown and it now provides a variety of services ‘to improve the life chances of children and to help in the community’. These include: City View Pre-School and Nurseries Ltd; a newly built and expanded two form of entry The Canterbury Primary School; a Specialist Resourced Based Provision for primary ASD pupils; The Canterbury Academy, which has expanded to take an additional form of entry; a Specialist Resourced Based Provision for secondary Speech and Language students; The Cullum Centre, in partnership with The National Autistic Society; The Sixth Form, Enterprise and Employability Centre, which includes one of the largest Sixth Forms in Kent; The Canterbury Youth Commission, The Ashford Youth Commission, and area wide Inclusion and Engagement Service and Professional Learning and Community Centre with café.
