We are seeking to appoint an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) who is warm, kind and caring. The successful candidate will be experienced at supporting children feel happy in school. They will help pupils to reach their potential socially, emotionally and academically. They understand the barriers to learning that some children might have and can help them with this.

The successful candidate will support the children's emotional development and help them cope with life’s challenges. ELSAs will also help children to find solutions to problems they might have.

Information about the school

We are a one-form entry, rural school, yet only a ten-minute drive from Canterbury. Our Church of England school is situated in beautiful landscaped grounds within the Elham Valley and it has its own large playing field and garden areas. The original school was built in the Victorian period and is now a listed building.

Our school is extremely well resourced with a large hall, an ICT suite and Art room. We are proud to have our own swimming pool which is in regular use and means our children benefit from exciting sport events such as triathlons.

Barham is an active, dynamic school which offers its pupils an engaging curriculum and a wide range of extra-curricular activities. We pride ourselves on having a great staff team, well-behaved children and supportive parents and governors.
