Advert

We are seeking an outstanding and passionate teacher to join our small, nurturing village primary school with a big ambition - to deliver the very best for our children through inclusive, innovative and evidence-informed teaching. We’re looking for a passionate and committed teacher who shares this vision and is ready to contribute to our whole school journey of improvement.

About the Role:

Our mixed-age classes are a unique and rewarding part of our setting and due to this, there is flexibility around the year group you would teach. We’re more interested in finding the right teacher for our school than filling a specific classroom. If you’re an experienced practitioner with a flair for mixed-age teaching, or, you are looking to widen your teaching experience and it may be your first time teaching mixed-age classes, we’d love to hear from you.

This role comes with a subject leadership responsibility, this could be a core or foundation subject (please indicate your preferred subject area in your application), so unfortunately this position is not suitable for Early Career Teachers.

We’re Interested in Your Thinking:

  • How have you contributed to shaping a curriculum that is driven by the latest educational research?

  • What does an evidence-led approach look like in a small school context?

  • How can you balance innovation with inclusivity and high standards across a mixed-age class?

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is a strong communicator and a skilled classroom practitioner

  • Has up-to-date knowledge of current educational research and effective practice

  • Is committed to raising standards and improving outcomes for all children

  • Brings energy, creativity and a willingness to try new ideas

  • Has high expectations for every learner and is passionate about inclusion

  • Enjoys working collaboratively and is keen to lead and inspire others

  • Wants to play an active part in shaping our school’s future

In Return, We Offer:

  • A welcoming and inclusive school community with a genuine family feel

  • The opportunity to innovate and shape teaching within a small class setting

  • Wonderful children who are eager to learn and full of curiosity

  • A strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional development

  • Access to our excellent forest school provision and outdoor learning opportunities

We are committed to finding the right person for our school. If you’re ready to bring your passion, expertise and creativity to a setting where your ideas will be valued and your impact felt, we’d love to meet you. Visits are strongly welcomed and encouraged. The role is a permanent position with a six month probabation period.

To arrange a visit or for further information, please contact office@laddingford.kent.sch.uk or call 01622871270 and ask to speak with the Headteacher.

The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to the satisfactory completion of an enhanced DBS check, as well as other pre-employment safeguarding checks in accordance with school policy.

Information about the school

Located on the picturesque rural outskirts of Maidstone, Laddingford St Mary’s is a smaller-than-average primary school easily accessible from Barming, Marden, Paddock Wood, and Tonbridge.

Inspired by the parable of The Lost Sheep, we ensure that every child is valued and supported—our vision of welcoming everyone, building strong foundations, and leaving no one behind guides every decision we make.

At Laddingford, we cultivate a happy and vibrant learning environment where both children and staff are excited to grow and explore. Our goal is for students to leave us equipped not just with knowledge, but with essential skills for lifelong learning, such as inquisitiveness, independence, and a positive mindset. As a result, our pupils are enthusiastic, hardworking, focused, and confident learners.

We are dedicated to achieving academic excellence for all while nurturing the unique talents that make each child special.

Though we are a small school, our numbers are steadily increasing. With the recent opening of our bespoke Early Years provision in February 2024, we can accommodate over 100 children, including our nursery. This creates a close-knit community where everyone feels like family—children enjoy whole-school trips and happily interact across year groups during playtime and lunch.

We also take great pride in our unique off-site Forest School provision. Our recent SIAMS inspection highlighted that “Forest School provides a rich and unique experience, helping pupils develop self-worth, perseverance, teamwork, and confidence."

This is an exciting time to join our wonderful little school. The recent addition of a new headteacher and leadership team means as a new team, we are shaping a bright future for our school, where every child is encouraged to explore, discover and excel. We are also very proud to be one of 750 schools in the country that is running the DfE Early Adopter Free Breakfast Club Scheme.

Laddingford St Mary truly is a special place, filled with warmth and positivity that can best be experienced firsthand. If you’re interested in what we offer and believe we could be the right fit for you, we’d love to hear from you!

As a school, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and all staff are subject to DBS checks.
