Contract Full Time, Permanent
Salary £31,650 - £49,084 (MPS/UPS) + TLR2c £3,214 + SEN2 £5,285
Location Bradfields Specialist SEN Academy Medway Towns, Kent
Start Date September 2025
Closing Date Tuesday 6th May 2025 - 12pm

Following the retirement of the current post holder, Bradfields Academy seeks to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic Subject Leader for Humanities.

The Humanities Department incorporates History, Geography, RS and MFL, but there is no requirement to be able to teach all of these subjects. The current post holder is a History teacher and the ability to teach this subject will be an advantage.

The successful candidate will lead and develop an established team of enthusiastic staff, who show a huge commitment to supporting the students at Bradfields.

The subjects within the Humanities cater for all levels of SEN students offering qualifications currently up to Level 2. An experience of a variety of different levels of qualification would be an advantage. Level 3 experience is not necessary, but the academy always welcomes conversations about developing and offering suitable accessible qualifications. Some curriculum areas offer Level 3 to the students.

In 2023 the academy was seen to continue to be Outstanding by OFSTED, and the successful candidate will have the ability to maintain these high standards and drive forward their own unique ideas in developing the provision further.

The academy is an all through provision and whilst there are specialists that teach in the primary and more complex provisions, subject leaders are expected to have an active input into their subject within these specialist areas. A good understanding of SEN and the potential barriers to learning and developing life skills would be an advantage.

It is important that the successful candidate has good communication skills, and an understanding of how to support staff in their understanding and delivery of the humanities subjects.

The successful candidate will join the Middle Leadership Team and take an active role in academy development in whole site initiatives.

Due to the current staffing numbers within the department, this position is open to external and internal candidates.

The academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

We are an equal opportunities employer.

Closing Date: 12 noon, Tuesday 6th May 2025
