We are looking for an enthusiastic Primary Teacher who is keen to lead in one of our Nest classrooms with students working on the KS1 and KS2 Curriculum.

You will work closely with the SENDCO and Curriculum Leads to adapt and deliver a blended Primary and Secondary Curriculum that will engage and inspire the pupils, developing their reading, writing and maths whilst ensuring they have opportunities to participate in curriculum areas.  

Do you have experience, knowledge and understanding of either KS1 or KS2 and a proven track record of improving outcomes for children working below expected or experience of a specialist setting?

The ideal candidate will be:

  • an experienced teacher who has worked in a Special Needs environment or has Primary experience
  • have a passion for supporting students with additional needs and be able to demonstrate a high standard of teaching
  • demonstrate a good understanding of implementation of the SEND Code of Practice
  • share the school's vision for inclusive learning
  • have a good understanding of how to differentiate for a variety of needs and abilities
  • have a proven track record of success in raising standards for pupils, preferably in reading, writing or mathematics
  • be able to demonstrate the ability to form strong professional relationships with staff and students alike
  • be able to demonstrate a proactive philosophy and approach to learning, communication and behaviour
  • be able to demonstrate that they are a reflective practitioner
  • appreciate the importance of working alongside a wide range of professionals in sharing goals for students
  • have positive communication skills

  • have the drive to make a real difference to the lives of pupils in an area of coastal disadvantage and fully embrace the diverse community

Information about the school

The Turner Free School is an academically ambitious and inclusive school for 11-18 year old pupils in the Cheriton area of Folkestone. In other words, it is a grammar-style school for everyone. As a smaller than average secondary school, all pupils are known and educated as individuals. The school has a knowledge-led curriculum, organised along the principles established by Professors Michael Young of the IOE and E.D. Hirsch of the University of Virginia, to ensure all pupils receive the knowledge they need to thrive in the modern world. In addition, to give pupils a leading edge for further education and employment, modern foreign languages are emphasised, with the aspiration that all pupils will achieve a working standard by the time that they graduate from the school.

As a free school the Turner Free School is a new Academy school; directly funded by central government and independent of Local Authority control.
