We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, friendly and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our amazing team of professionals. Initially, this is a temporary contract until the end of this academic year; however, there may well be scope to extend this contract should children requring this level of support join the school in September - a situation which is likely.

The role will involve working directly as a 1:1 support with a Year 4 child with complex needs both individually and within small groups, both in and outside the classroom. Good Maths and Literacy skills are required and further training and support can be provided. You may be required to provide additional support for the child through lunch and break times which will be added to the basic contractual hours.

This contract would be linked to the named child for the duration that the child is at SJS and in receipt of funding. The basic contract is for 27.5 hours per week TTO Kent Range 3 £23,337 (pro rata) unless additional support is required when hours would be adjusted accordingly. Start time of 08.45 until 15.30.

The ideal candidates should:

  • Have experience of working with children with Special Needs
  • Have a minimum of an NVQ2 qualification and or equivalent GCSE Maths and English at C+
  • Have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Be keen to develop their skills and use their own initiative where appropriate
  • Have energy and determination to make a difference
  • Have commitment to raising standards and achievement for all pupils

Sandwich Junior is a two form entry school. We currently have 235 pupils on roll. We are fortunate to have extensive grounds, which include two large playgrounds, a gardening area, outdoor music equipment, an Orchard and a full size Labyrinth to aid mindfulness and reflection.
