We are looking for passionate, dedicated individuals to join our Local Governing Board.

Whether you are a local business leader, educator or community member, this is your chance to have a positive impact on our schools’ future and improve the life chances for local children. We are currently looking for a new co-opted governor to join our friendly governing body.

 As a School Governor within our Multi-Academy Trust, you will work closely with the school and the Trust Board and play a vital role in shaping the future of our school and ensuring the best possible outcomes for pupils.

 This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on education, develop new skills, and gain valuable governance experience.

 Governors have a vital part to play in ensuring the children develop and thrive academically, socially, culturally and spiritually in the safest environments possible. 

 Many of the functions of the governing body are statutory or have a legal framework. To carry out our core strategic roles, governors need to be able to think strategically, challenge, monitor, but also support.

 Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the strategic direction of the school
  • Holding school leaders to account for educational performance
  • Ensuring financial oversight and effective use of resources

 What we are looking for

  • Somebody Interested in children’s education and the performance of the school
  • Community spirit
  • Somebody able to work well as part of a team
  • Able to consider matters objectively and make informed judgements
  • Able to help to set and review the schools strategic direction
  • Able to hold the headteacher and school leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
  • Able to oversee the financial performance of the school, making sure public money is well spent

Information about the federation

FMAT was formed by Fulston Manor School in 2013, three years after the school became a single academy in October 2010.

FMAT consists of two schools in Sittingbourne, South Avenue Primary School and Fulston Manor Secondary School.
