If you are looking for a position where you can really make a difference in a child-centred trust, and if you want to be part of a happy, friendly and enthusiastic team, then St Martin's School, part of the Whinless Down Academy Trust, is the place for you!

We wish to appoint a superb Teaching Assistant. We are looking for someone who is friendly and approachable, able to work on their own initiative and to manage their time effectively and who is driven to provide opportunities and enjoyment for children allowing us all to achieve together.

The successful candidate will have a varied role, supporting children across the school who have additional funding to support their special educational needs. The role will involve supporting individual children's learning in lessons, as well as leading small group and 1:1 interventions under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo.

This is a term time position for 38 weeks of the year. Typically, our TA hours are 8:30am-3:30pm 4 days a week and 8:30am-4:30pm 1 day a week (in order to lead an after school club). However, we are advertising this post as full time/part time as, for the right candidate, we would consider reducing these hours, which may mean this post would be suitable for someone looking to work less hours or for someone who needs a job to fit around their own childcare arrangements.

This is a fixed term contract until 31/08/2025.

Although this post is advertised for St Martin's School, we work closely as a Trust and there may be opportunity for candidates to work in other Trust schools.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Share the school and trust values and be prepared to put the children at the heart of everything
  • Understand the importance of a wide and varied curriculum and share the belief that learning changes lives
  • Be keen to continue to learn and develop their skills
  • Have a good standard of education, with a minimum requirement of English and Mathematics at GCSE (C) or equivalent.
  • Have energy and the determination to make a difference
  • Be a team player, willing to share ideas and with a good sense of humour
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in, and sensitivity to, children's individual needs.  You will be expected to have a positive impact on the children you work with and the school as a whole.

In return, we can offer:

  • A friendly, dedicated and supportive team of staff who thrive on challenge and having fun; who work closely together to improve the quality of achievement and enjoyment for all pupils
  • A thorough induction programme and good professional development opportunities
  • Happy and enthusiastic children who are eager to learn.
